About the GTNF

about
“We can allow disruption to happen to us, or we can do it ourselves.” -David O’Reilly, group scientific and R&D director, British American Tobacco, and chairman emeritus, GTNF advisory board.

Since its launch in Rio de Janeiro in 2008, the Global Tobacco & Nicotine Forum (GTNF) has only strengthened its reputation. Today it is the foremost ideas and information exchange for the tobacco and nicotine industries and related stakeholders. Each year, we offer more expert panels, more networking opportunities, more key speakers with a diverse range of viewpoints, and greater transparency.

As well as attracting senior industry figures, the GTNF features an expanding range of influential voices from areas including public health, policymaking and international relations. In an industry undergoing historic change, we provide a unique space for delegates to hear and understand what these important voices have to say.

As a result, the GTNF is increasingly viewed as an ideal venue for debating the issues and seeking common ground in formal and informal encounters. Behind the success of the GTNF is a strong belief that deepening the conversation about tobacco, nicotine and public health can lead to more balanced and informed perceptions and decisions by all stakeholders.

A truly global conversation

The GTNF was launched in Rio de Janeiro in 2008. The event has since been held in Bangalore, India (2010); Antwerp, Belgium (2012); Cape Town, South Africa (2013); West Virginia, USA (2014); Bologna, Italy (2015); Brussels, Belgium (2016); and New York City, USA (2017).

Our host city for 2018 is London. Perhaps no other major city accommodates such intense contrasts between the historic and the futuristic. In its traditions, its architecture and the diversity of its goods and services, London demonstrates how past, present and future can thrive together.

The GTNF event has sold out every year since 2012, so we invite you to secure your place for GTNF 2018 as soon as possible. London is calling—join us in September and be part of an international meeting of minds.
