Peter Vorster

Pieter Vorster is a director of Credit Suisse in the Investment banking division based in London and re-joined the bank in August 2013. He is a member of the pan-European Consumer Staples team covering the food, home and personal care, and tobacco sectors.

Prior to this he was co-head of South African equity research for Credit Suisse, and he was also responsible for research coverage of the South African consumer sectors.

He started his career in 1990 on the buyside in South Africa with Sage Capital Managers before moving to local broker Huysamer Stals in 1993 where was head of research until 1996, at which time he joined UBS.

In 1998 he was a founding shareholder of AMB-DLJ Securities which was acquired by Credit Suisse in 2000, after which he relocated to London to cover the pan-European tobacco sector for Credit Suisse until 2005.

Prior to rejoining Credit Suisse in 2013, Vorster spent three years with hedge fund Ivaldi Capital as a partner and research analyst covering European and U.S. equities after spending three years as head of research and partner at Matrix Corporate Capital and a year as a food and tobacco analyst at CA Cheuvreux.

Vorster holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree with honors in investment management from Rand Afrikaans University.
